BEN SPIES VERY OPTIMISTIC FOR THIS WEEKEN’S SEASON OPENER AT DAYTONA

With Yoshimura Suzuki dominating firmly at the AMA Superbike preseason tests, held at Fontana last month, 22 year old Texan Ben Spies is looking forward very optimistic about his chances to defend and renew his 2006 AMA superbike championship.

Not only did Kevin Schwantz’s pupil break the lap record by more than 2 tenths of a second, he also preceeded Australian team mate Mat Mladin by more than half a second. The third fastest was Suzuki newcomer Tommy Hayden, underlining this way the Yoshimura Suzuki and the K7 GSX-R 1000 supremacy.

All three Yosh Suzuki riders are supported by AFAM sprockets.

Yamaha USA Factory Racing’ Eric Bostrom realized the 6th fastest time, while the other Yamaha superbike rookie Jason DiSalvo put his R1 on the 8th rank.

Provisional balance sheet for AFAM: 5 riders within the top 8. No further comments needed.

The first race of the 2007 season is held this Saturday March 10th at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida.
